DAVINA Rankin says watching her “ropeable” parents deal with the threats of assault she received during Married at First Sight almost broke her.
The Brisbane bikini model, portrayed as the show’s villain, broke down speaking about the death threats during A Current Affair on Monday night.
“It wasn’t little bits and pieces; it was a lot – mean stuff. From my appearance to the things they would do to me in the street – how they would assault me. Even though it’s words; words still carry a lot of weight,” she told ACA.
“It’s easy to say screw the haters but they are pretty serious threats. I was crying a lot.
“It doesn’t matter who you are. It’s not nice to think that people hate you that much.
“My mum and dad were ropeable. I just feel really bad for them because everything, it’s all on the internet.
“It was really hard watching them feel so helpless.”
Rankin, who was celebrating her 27th birthday this week, said she was “absolutely” misunderstood.
“I’m not just this b----- malicious person, that character you see on TV … but at the end of the day that’s what we signed up for,” she said.
“Just don’t take it so personally that you literally want to hurt someone. If it annoys you so much don’t watch.”
Rankin also revealed Tracey Jewel called her after she dumped Dean Wells at the final vows, which was why she was upset over their confrontation at the following dinner party.
“I was caught off guard and sassy. I can’t believe we are pretending like we haven’t spoken,” she said.
