LOGIE Award nominees are to be announced at a lavish event on the Gold Coast on Sunday.
Some of the country’s big-name presenters are expected to jet in for the party at Nineteen at The Star when Queenslander and Today reporter Sylvia Jeffreys will reveal nominations for the 60th annual TV Week Logie Awards on July 1.
The presence of an interstate guest is said to be a solid indicator that they will be up for an award, so Tracy Grimshaw’s rumoured attendance all but confirms she will be nominated for the TV Week Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television.
Nine and its talent, including Karl Stefanovic, Allison Langdon, Ben Fordham and Scott Cam, have heavily backed the A Current Affair presenter to take out the gold this year.
“We have heard Tracy is flying in for the event and Channel 9 have big hopes for her,” a source said.
Despite Family Feud’s recent axing, Channel 10 is said to have its hopes pinned on Grant Denyer.
After four years on air, the game show will sign off once episodes already recorded come to an end, but popular Denyer is almost certain to secure his second consecutive gold nomination.
Voting for nominees closed on April 1, before the cancellation was announced. Denyer is also reportedly attending today’s event.
The Bachelor host Osher Gunsberg could nab a nomination off the back of an extensive social media campaign, which gained traction during Bachelor in Paradise.
Meanwhile, former Bachelor turned The Living Room host Matty “J” Johnson could secure a nomination for the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent.
Johnson was flown in for a special photo shoot on the Gold Coast when voting opened in March.
Also at that shoot was Wentworth star Kate Jenkinson.
Industry sources tip popular Foxtel dramas, including A Place To Call Home, will bag some nominations.
Seven is likely to secure a number of nominations for long-running soapie Home and Away, with newcomer and former reality star Sam Frost among them.
After a long history in Melbourne, the TV Week Logie Awards come to Queensland for the first time on July 1.
The Gold Coast won the right to host the ceremony as part of a four-year deal with the Queensland Government.
