Queensland suburb shutdown after man armed with knife made threats of violence
Police have declared an emergency situation after a man armed with a knife made threats of violence.
Hervey Bay residents are being urged to stay away from an entire suburb after a man threatened police with a knife.
Queensland Police were called to an address on Boat Harbour Dr at Urangan on the Fraser Coast about 12pm following reports of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, a man was found armed with a knife and he was making threats at police.
Police have since declared an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act about 6.30pm on Monday.
An exclusion zone encompassing Boat Harbour Dr, Lavell St, Hammond St and Toni St remains in place until further notice.
While there’s no threat to public safety, residents are being advised to avoid the area.
“There is no further information at this time,” police said in a statement.
