A woman in her 60s suffered serious injuries when a dog owner allegedly rugby tackled her to the ground during a brief clash on a Sunshine Coast beach.
A woman in her 60’s suffered serious injuries during a confrontation with a dog owner on a Sunshine Coast beach.
Kathy McKenzie was walking along Peregian Beach when she approached a man with a dog near beach access 53, in a non-designated dog zone about 9.15am on Tuesday.
Acting Sergeant Justin Zuanetti told media Ms McKenzie approached the man and told him dogs were not allowed on the beach and when she turned around to walk away he allegedly rugby tackled her to the ground then fled.
The assault left Ms McKenzie with broken ribs, a fractured spine, a fractured ankle and lacerations to her liver.
She was rushed to Nambour Hospital then transferred to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.
Police released CCTV footage of a man they would like to speak with about the incident.
“We are seeking public assistance to hopefully try to locate and identify this male,” Sergeant Zuanetti said.
“We don’t know if he is a local or if he’s from another area.”
The man is described as being in his early 20s, of Caucasian appearance, and solid build.
The dog is grey and black with a solid build.
