A man living overseas has been deported back to Australia where he faces 67 domestic violence related charges dating back nearly a decade.

The man was charged with multiple serious domestic violence offences allegedly committed on the Gold Coast between 2016 and 2017, including numerous counts of contravening Domestic Violence Orders (DVO), using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence, unlawful stalking, and breaches of bail.

Police will allege in court the charges span several years and involved multiple victims.

Detective Inspector Paul Fletcher said the tireless efforts of QPS units and the AFP led to the man’s arrest.

“This operation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to bringing offenders to justice and protecting our community,” he said.

“His arrest brings a significant level of safety and reassurance to the victims involved. Our focus now is ensuring he faces the full extent of the law, and that justice is served.

“This arrest highlights the critical importance of inter-agency co-operation.

“All officers’ dedication and hard work have ensured that a dangerous person can no longer cause harm to his victims, and we will continue to work diligently to uphold the safety and security of our community.”

Inspector Fletcher said the community should be confident the police are determined to “help and protect those affected by domestic violence”.

“Coinciding with Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, this arrest demonstrates commitment to taking decisive action against domestic violence offenders and supporting the victims,” he said.

The man was refused police bail and will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 10.
