Gold Coast female high school students ranked as ‘unrapeable’ and ‘abduction material’

Another Australian school has been pulled into a misogynistic ranking scandal, this time a social media account labelled female students ‘unrapeable’ and ‘abduction material’.

Another repugnant account of high school girls being ranked with designations such as “unrapeable” and “abduction material” has emerged.

This latest instance concerns girls from Foxwell State Secondary College in Coomera, on the Gold Coast.

Unknown controllers of an Instagram account out the teenage girls into categories such as “abduction material” and “one night stand” to “average” and “unrapeable”.

“Police have received a report in relation to a cyber threat/harassment incident,” a Queensland police spokesman said.

“Investigations are continuing.”

The education department said at this stage there is no indication the post was made by a member of the school community.

The mother of one of the targeted girls said the incident was upsetting.

“I was really emotional. You see it happen to other people and you think there’s no way it’s going to happen to your kids,” the woman said.

“I would like to see these people held accountable. And realise what they’re actually doing does hurt people”.

Foxwell Secondary’s business manager Kimberley Knowles said the safety and welfare of the children and staff was their highest priority.

The school could not provide details on the incident because of privacy restrictions.

“We encourage parents to report any allegations of bullying and misconduct,” Ms Knowles said.

“We treat allegations of bullying and misconduct seriously and will respond in line with the school’s student code of conduct,” she said.

“Guidance counselling and other supports are available at the school for anyone who needs it and for as long as it is required. Please let me know if you would like support arranged for your child.”

In a statement the Queensland Department of Education labelled the posts as vile and said it would be investigating.

“At this stage there is no indication the post was made by a member of the school community.”

“Any state school student found responsible will be held accountable for their actions,” the department spokesperson said.

Once the school became aware of the Instagram post on Wednesday, it acted to have the post removed, the department spokesperson said.

Earlier this month four boys from Melbourne’s elite Yarra Valley Grammar School were suspended for creating a spreadsheet with rankings of female students under banners like “wifeys”, “cuties”, “mid”, “object”, “get out” and “unrapeable”.

The Queensland Department of Education is also investigating this Gold Coast incident.

Foxwell Secondary has only been built in recent years and opened for students on 2020. There were about 1000 students enrolled in 2023.
