Update in manhunt for alleged violent home invader as one man charged

Police have provided an update in the hunt for a man who allegedly broke into the home of a 71-year-old man before breaking his arm and firing shots.

A man has been charged after shots were fired inside a Queensland home.

Police say about 1.25pm on Monday, two men broke into a home on Ripley Rd in Ipswich and confronted the 71-year-old male resident.

It is alleged one of the intruders fired a gun in the direction of the elderly man.

The 71-year-old was not struck, but police allege as the confrontation continued he suffered an injury to his arm.

The two alleged intruders then fled the scene in a white Mitsubishi Magna and a blue motorbike, police said.

The Mitsubishi driver was arrested around 4pm on Mondayin Bundamba, about about 15km north of the home.

The 27-year-old man from Bundamba has been charged with burglary, serious assault and assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, as well as several driving charges.

He is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

A manhunt is still underway for the second alleged offender.
