Man, 45, charged with attempted murder after Maryborough shooting

A man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot a man in the head before fleeing the scene on an e-scooter.

A 45-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot another man in the head in a “targeted” attack before fleeing the scene on an e-scooter.

Emergency services were called to a Fort St property in Maryborough, north of Brisbane, following reports of gunshots and the discovery of the injured man shortly after 9pm on January 13.

Police will allege that following a disagreement, the 45-year-old Maryborough man shot at the 43-year-old man before fleeing the scene on an e-scooter.

The 43-year-old man was taken to hospital with a life-threatening injury to his head.

Police previously stated they believed the shooting was a “suspected targeted incident” and there was no ongoing threat to public safety.

Police have since arrested the 45-year-old man after he was found riding an electric scooter on Churchill St in Maryborough on Saturday.

He has been charged with one count of attempted murder and is expected to appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police will further allege in court that following the man’s arrest, a search warrant was executed at a business on Adelaide St, Maryborough, where police found a 3D printed gun, ammunition, and a quantity of methamphetamines at the property.

A 52-year-old Maryborough man was arrested at the property and has been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of weapons, stealing, obstructing police and receiving tainted property firearm/ammunition as well as two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

He is due to appear in Maryborough Magistrates Court Monday.

Investigations are ongoing.
