Schoolies 2017: Three men charged over Surfers Paradise one-punch attack
A TEENAGER celebrating Schoolies event is knocked to the ground and rushed to hospital following alleged attack on the Gold Coast.
POLICE have charged three men over an alleged one punch attack in Surfers Paradise which left the victim unconscious.
The men, aged 19 and 21, allegedly surrounded the victim on the corner of Orchid Avenue and Cavil Avenue at 3.20am before punching and kicking him.
Police said one of the men then punched the 19-year-old victim from the side causing him to fall to the ground.
The teenager, who was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital, was a Schoolies reveller from Sydney who was visiting the Gold Coast, 9News reported.
He has since been discharged from hospital.
Police have charged a 19-year-old Upper Coomera man with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of contravention of a banning order.
The two other men involved, both 21 years old from Cootharaba, have been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm while in company.
All three men are due to appear in the Southport magistrates court on December 8.
The incident followed an alleged attack on a young woman celebrating Schoolies in South Australia.
An 18-year-old was arrested for allegedly punching a young woman in the face, marring the final night of the Schoolies Festival at Victor Harbor.
The woman was knocked to her feet by the blow while the man was charged with assault and disorderly behaviour.
