Police have revealed they won’t give up search for missing judge Guy Andrew until there is no hope
Queensland Police have ruled out giving up the search for missing judge Guy Andrew just yet, as the effort begins its fifth day.
The search for Federal Circuit Court judge Guy Andrew, missing in Brisbane, entered its fifth day on Thursday, as police rule out giving up just yet.
Judge Andrew was reported missing on Sunday, after he drove in the direction of Mount Coot-tha, in west Brisbane – where he is known to frequent for walks – about 3am.
His car was found abandoned in nearby suburb The Gap at 2pm that day.
Police trail bike riders and about 40 SES volunteers spent Monday scouring dense bushland, before the search was shifted to nearby Enoggera Reservoir.
On Wednesday, police divers began scouring the waterways of Brisbane’s D’Aguilar National Park.
Drones were also deployed to assist in aerial oversight of the national park, which encompasses 40km of forest and waterways.
Judge Andrew has been described as caucasian, about 176cm tall with grey hair and brown eyes. Police said they did not believe his disappearance was suspicious.
A statement from police on Monday said “police and the man’s family hold concerns for his welfare”.
A Queensland Police spokesman said there was “no indication of stopping the search just yet”.
The decision to call off a search depends on expert advice, which police have little control over.
“The decision is made when an expert says there’s no longer a chance of finding the person alive,” the spokesman said.
“Police work with experts... There’s no indication of stopping just yet.”
According to The Courier Mail, Judge Andrew’s loved ones were on Wednesday assisting in the search.
