Australia Day: Counter protester in MAGA hat chased out of Invasion Day rally
A man in a red Make America Great Again hat received a predictably cold welcome at an Invasion Day rally, scuffling with Indigenous protesters.
A counter protester at an Invasion Day rally at Parliament House was violently pushed by three men who called him a “redneck”.
A video from the demonstration in Canberra shows a man in a Make America Great Again (MAGA) red hat, with his face painted green, wrestling over an Aboriginal flag with a group of three men.
One man in the group wrestles the flag back off him before another pushes him roughly into a black ute decorated with Australian flags.
The men, wearing motorcycle helmets and vests, can be heard calling the man a “f***ing redneck” and telling him to “get the f*** out of here”.
The man then quickly sped away in the ute.

“This #aussieeoioioi guy got sent packing,” photographer Hilary Ward wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
Ms Ward wrote in another comment “the MAGA guy was being a real d*ck head” and had been “provoking” the men, but she didn’t get it on tape.

It comes as thousands of protesters gathered around Australia to protest at Invasion Day rallies.
Protesters gathered in Canberra at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy before beginning a march to Parliament House.
Indigenous Elders present at the march spoke about why January 26 was a day of mourning for Aboriginal people, and said the day reminded the community of injustices still faced by Aboriginal people, The Canberra Times reported.
Four protesters were arrested in the Domain in Sydney after police told protesters they couldn’t march, but had been permitted to gather.
