A former Home And Away actor has tragically died at the age of 45, with his body found inside his northwestern Sydney home.
Former Home And Away star and Logie award winner Dieter Brummer has died at the age of 45.
The Australian actor – who was best known for his role on the Channel 7 soap opera as Shane Parrish – was found dead inside his northwestern Sydney home at Glenhaven on Saturday.
NSW Police said officers from The Hills Police Area Command responded to reports of a concern for welfare at a home on Glenhaven Road at about 1.30pm on July 24.
“The body of a man was located inside the home,” it said in a statement.
“His death is not believed to be suspicious.”
His family issued a public statement, remembering him as a “handsome, talented, funny, complicated and beloved” man.
“On behalf of my family, I post this today with a heavy heart,” the statement read.
“He has left a massive hole in our lives and our world will never be the same.
“Our thoughts go out to all of you who knew him, loved him, or worked with him over the years.
“We appreciate you respecting our privacy at this terrible time.”
Brummer was best known for his role on Summer Bay between 1992-1996 where he featured in more than 500 episodes.
In 1995 and 1996, he won the silver Logie for Most Popular Actor for his role in Home And Away and was nominated for the gold in 1996.
Throughout his career, he continued to feature in a string of TV shows, including Medivac, the Underbelly series, Winners and Losers and even joined the Neighbours cast in 2011.
Many of his fans have taken to social media, mourning Brummer’s death.
“My childhood crush … this is devastating and so eerily timed,” one posted.
“That's so sad. Used to love watching the show back then over here in the UK. Rest in peace Dieter Brummer,” another wrote.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
