If you thought it took forever to wash and dry your hair, spare a thought for Preston, 6, the Hungarian sheepdog.

In order to beat 4000 canine competitors to take out the prestigious Best in Show award at the Advance Sydney Royal Dog Show, he undergoes a rigorous beauty regime.

Owner Sue Huebner from Victoria said it takes a day to wash him.

“We bathe and dry him every three weeks and keep his hair tied up in between because it takes a whole day to do it,” she said.

“We use a commercial dryer, what you would use to dry carpets.”

Preston knows it’s time well spent, with his luscious locks reaping rewards.

He’s won 153 Best in Show awards during his international career.

In 2016 he won the prestigious All Breeds Competition in the USA and last year took out the number two spot before coming home to win the biggest dog show in the Southern Hemisphere.
