A woman has been found dead at property in Sydney’s east.
The body of a woman, believed to be in her 60s, was found on Astoria Circuit in Maroubra about midday on Monday.
A 50-year-old man at the scene was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he is assisting officers with inquiries.
In a statement NSW Police said: “The woman is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in her 60s.
“Officers have commenced an investigation and established a crime scene.”
Officers searched the area around Astoria Circuit on Monday afternoon. Detectives doorknocked nearby residents.
Another group of police in forensic suits spent the afternoon searching through bins outside the public housing residence.
A long-term resident told The Daily Telegraph the area was “rough” and there was often “screaming and yelling” nearby.
“It’s normal for police to be called over,” he said.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
