Police find $480k worth of cannabis in Byron Bay traffic stop
Police have allegedly discovered almost half a million dollars worth of cannabis after stopping a truck near Byron Bay.
Police allege they found almost half a million dollars worth of cannabis during a traffic stop in northern NSW yesterday.
About 3.30pm on Wednesday police from the Tweed/Byron Highway Patrol Command stopped a Pantech truck on the Pacific Motorway near Byron Bay.
Officers searched the vehicle where they allegedly discovered a “significant amount of cannabis”.

A man and a woman, both aged 24, were arrested at the scene and taken to Byron Bay Police Station, NSW Police said in a statement.
Highway Patrol officers worked with Tweed/Byron detectives during the search of the truck.
Police said the cannabis weighed some 73kg, and had an estimated street value of $480,000.
The woman has been charged with supply commercial quantity cannabis.
She appeared at Ballina Local Court on Thursday, and was formally refused bail. She is due back in court on February 4.
NSW Police said inquiries are continuing.
Police also shared an image on social media of the alleged massive haul of cannabis, which quickly went viral.
“It could have been the truck we could smell,” one woman commented, tagging her friend.
“Isn’t that a ‘personal quantity’ in Byron Bay,” another joked.
“Nice of her to bag it up in police bags for you,” another man said.
