Man rescued from roof of burning building suffering stab wounds
Police are investigating dramatic events today that saw a man rescued from a burning rooftop suffering stab wounds and burns.
A man was rescued from the roof of a burning building in inner Sydney today with stab wounds.
The man, reportedly in his 50s, suffered multiple stab wounds in his back and injuries from the fire.
Emergency services were called to Surry Hills, about 11am with reports of a fire at a restaurant.
A man was found at the scene suffering multiple suspected stab wounds and burns from the fire, NSW Police said in a statement.
The man was reportedly rescued from the roof of the burning building.
The man has now been transferred to hospital.
“Officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command have established a crime scene and commenced inquiries,” NSW Police said in a statement.

The area around the incident has been cordoned off, with road closures in place on Crown Street, between Foveaux and Cleveland streets.
The closures are expected to impact on some bus services and local traffic. Motorists and commuters are advised to avoid the area.
Police crews were still working to extinguish the fire an hour and a half after arriving on the scene. The fire has now been extinguished.
A small dog injured in the fire was taken to a nearby veterinarian by firefighters, according to 7 News, but sadly died a short time later.
