A father has died after his son allegedly stabbed him in the neck in a western Sydney home.
Emergency services were called to a Layton Street home in Wentworthville about 6.30am on Thursday following reports of a stabbing.
Officers found 64-year-old George Vaz, who had been stabbed in the neck, according to 9NEWS.
Despite paramedics attending, the man died at the scene.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation launched.
Mr Vaz’s 60-year-old wife was also home at the time of the incident, however she wasn’t injured.
His 34-year-old son, Shayne Vaz, was arrested shortly after and taken to Granville Police Station.
Police believe all three people are known to each other.
The man was on Thursday charged with domestic violence murder.
Detective Danny Doherty called the incident “sad” on Thursday.
“Unfortunately ... there’s a family member that’s now dead,” Detective Doherty said.
“It’s another sad domestic-related incident we believe.”
The 34-year-old was refused bail and is set to front Parramatta Local Court on Friday.
