Woman’s body found in house in Sydney’s greater west

Police have made a further discovery concerning the death of a woman whose body was found in a house in Sydney’s greater west.

Police are looking for a man after a woman died following a visit from a “friend” in Sydney’s greater west.

Occupants of a home at Borrowdale Way, Cranebrook located the woman at 2.30pm on Sunday. She had suffered serious injuries.

They sounded the alarm and emergency services rushed to the scene, however the 31-year-old could not be revived.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was staying with a “friend” at the address and was from another part of Sydney, according to Chief Inspector John Nelson.

“We don’t believe this was a random act; potentially our victim, the woman, and somebody else are known to each other,” he said.

“She’s returned to the location in the early hours of the morning, and at some point between then and 2:30pm, something has happened to this young woman.”

A “line of inquiry” police were investigating was whether the woman had met up with someone from the internet.

He added there had not been a break-in at the property.

Chief Inspector Nelson said police were looking into reports a man was seen running from the property, with anyone who has more information urged to come forward.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command established a crime scene and an investigation with the assistance of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Almost a dozen officers and emergency personnel were reportedly at the site on Sunday evening.

Police have been told the woman does not live at the home but is known to the occupants.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed suspicious behaviour in the area, or who has information that can assist, to come forward.
