A FURIOUS Salim Mehajer has accused police of having a vendetta against him and said “only death” would end his relationship with wife Aysha.

The controversial former councillor talked to news.com.au after NSW Police, acting on behalf of Mrs Mehajer, going by her maiden name Aysha Learmonth, yesterday lodged an application for an apprehended violence order (AVO) against her husband.

Mr Mehajer is due in a Sydney court on Wednesday, just weeks from the one-year anniversary of the couple’s lavish wedding in the western Sydney suburb of Lidcombe.

But Mr Mehajer was emphatic, telling news.com.au today: “Aysha has NOT taken out an AVO against me. The police are pursuing for an AVO.”

Police have applied for the order but rarely do so unless requested by the person seeking protection.

“The police seem to have nothing better to do then follow our footsteps [sic],” he said. And despite the pair not being seen in public for months, the former deputy mayor is seemingly certain his marriage will stand the test of time.

“As mentioned before, only death will do us apart [sic],” he said, while also stressing that this photograph (below) he posted to Facebook at the weekend was a recent image.

He uploaded the photograph of the couple together, he looking adoringly at his wife, with the caption. “You put the smile on my face, the sparky in my eyes and the Love in my heart.”

On the same day, Saturday, July 9, he also published an image on Facebook of his wife with a new hair colour. The post read: “Stunning or what?”

Mr Mehajer’s extravagant lifestyle and enthusiastic social media presence, has kept him and his wife in the headlines.

Mr Mehajer continues to be dogged by questions about whether the couple are still together. But he insisted to news.com.au that the latest image of the couple on social media was taken recently.

He has previously denied the couple was estranged when earlier this year police were called to Aysha’s sister’s home near Wollongong following an incident where Mr Mehajer had been allegedly “yelling and screaming at the door”.

In March, Mr Mehajer threw a grand party for Aysha’s 30th birthday rumoured to cost up to $50,000, but questions were raised as to whether she was actually in attendance.

Mr Mehajer has continued to publish affectionate comments and photos of the couple on Facebook.
