A man has been charged by police after allegedly dumping his ex-partner’s pet snakes and setting them loose on Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

The woman, who did not wish to be named, this week took to social media to offer a reward for the return of her pythons, saying they were roaming the streets in Coogee.

“The snakes are domesticated and won’t survive in the wild,” she said in a social media post.

On Saturday, NSW Police said a 25-year-old man had been charged over an alleged domestic-related incident.

Police said it was alleged the man damaged two snake enclosures at his Mount Street unit and placed the reptiles in an unsecured box on the footpath.

After the woman made a complaint to police, the man was arrested at Randwick Police Station on Friday afternoon and was charged with two counts of destroy or damage property.
