Court documents reveal details of Alan Jones charges

New details of the allegations levelled against broadcaster Alan Jones have been released ahead of his first court appearance.

Alan Jones charged over abuse of ninth alleged victim

Australian broadcast titan Alan Jones allegedly kissed one of his alleged victims “using his tongue” and “touched” or “fondled” the penises of some others, according to allegations contained in court documents released to the media.

Mr Jones was charged in November with 26 offences including aggravated indecent assault, sexual touching and common assault relating to nine alleged victims.

He was arrested at his Circular Quay apartment on November 18 when it was raided by detectives from the Child Abuse Squad’s Strike Force Bonnefin.

After police laid charges, the ex-2GB host’s lawyer Chris Murphy told waiting journalists his client would “assert his innocence” in court.

“He denies any misconduct. This matter will be defended,” Mr Murphy said.

“Mr Jones will be defending this case. He’s presumed innocent.”

The 83-year-old is due to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on December 18, and the court released charge sheets to media on Wednesday.

Documents lists the complainants, given pseudonyms A through I, as having been allegedly assaulted or touched between 2001 and 2019.

One person who was “directly employed” by Mr Jones – dubbed Complainant C – is subject to 11 charges for incidents said to have taken place over the space of more than one year.

The documents allege that between May 2008 and July 2009, Mr Jones touched Complainant C’s leg, inner thigh, touched and rubbed his penis, kissed him on the mouth and “caressed” his arm in separate incidents.

Mr Jones has been accused of aggravated indecent assault for all of these alleged incidents.

The earliest allegations over which Mr Jones is charged relate to a Complainant B, whose penis was allegedly touched and fondled and who was also allegedly kissed on the lips in 2001.

Complainant A was allegedly assaulted with an act of indecency by means of Mr Jones kissing him “using his tongue” in January 2017.

Other complainants were “touched” or “squeezed on the bottom”, one of which also had his scrotum pulled, the documents allege.

Two complainants – H and I – were allegedly sexually touched in 2019.

The incidents allegedly took place at locations including Fitzroy Falls, Kiama, Newtown, Sydney and Alexandria.

NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Michael Fitzgerald said at a press conference last month Mr Jones knew some of the alleged victims personally, and others professionally.

“And we’ll also allege that some of the victims, when the alleged offence took place, was the first time that they ever met the accused,” he said.

The veteran broadcaster was for decades one of the country’s most influential and feared commentators.

The former Wallabies coach hosted his top-rating breakfast show on 2GB for two decades before retiring for health reasons in May 2020.

He went on to host The Alan Jones Program on Sky News Australia, where he had appeared as a panellist and co-host since 2013.

Mr Jones was granted conditional bail to appear before court in Sydney this month.
