21-year-old woman arrested in Bunnings car park in connection with brutal kidnap and torture allegations

A 21-year-old Service NSW employee was arrested at a Bunnings in connection with an alleged kidnap of a man whose teeth were pulled out.

Police in Sydney have arrested a 21-year-old state government employee at a Bunnings car park in connection with the brutal alleged kidnapping last month of Peter Vuong who police claim had his teeth pulled out with a hammer and pliers.

It’s claimed by police the 26-year-old man was snatched from a home in Smithfield, in Sydney’s west, on 9 March and then held hostage for several days when he was tortured.

On Wednesday, New South Wales Police said the state’s Crime Command Robbery and Serious Crime Squad had charged a woman after she allegedly provided information in connection to the alleged kidnapping of a man.

Channel 9 has named the woman as Sira Elkheir.

Footage has emerged of her being arrested at the car park of the Bunnings home improvement store in Greenacre.

She was taken to Auburn police station where she was charged with take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, unauthorised function with intent (to commit) serious offence, access/modify restricted data held in computer, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

Ms Elkheir worked at Service NSW, the state government agency which allows the public to access government services such as renewing driving licences and registering births.

Police have said they will allege she used her role at Service NSW to access personal data which was shared with others for the purpose of criminal activity.

Channel 9 has said police will also allege this involved looking up an address for one of Mr Vuong’s associates which was passed onto the alleged kidnappers.

Ms Elkheir, from Yagoona in Sydney’s west, was refused bail and will appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday.

On 14 March, six men – aged 19, 20, and 21 – were arrested and charged for their alleged roles in the incident. They remain before the courts.
