If, like me, the long weekend snuck up on you this year and you didn’t plan a weekend away – I’ve rounded up plenty of things to keep you entertained!

NEW THINGS TO CHECK OUT

Easter weekend usually means we’re on the run back into the Dry, and a few things are starting to reopen again – so if you’re looking for a fun activity, this is your reminder to check out the Tourism Top End website for 25 per cent off any Tourism Experience before April 30.

It’s also great for activity ideas.

Some great experiences like 00Seven JetSkis are recently back in action for the Dry, or experiences perfect for the end of Wet Season – like flying over waterfalls!

If you’re a bit late to the party and still in planning mode – the newest airline to the NT, Nexus Airlines, currently have a ‘Fly a friend for free’ deal from Darwin to Broome and Kununurra – which is valid for flights between April 1 and June 30 – so you could use this weekend as planning time for that.

LONG WEEKEND ADVENTURES

Due to the rain we’ve had lately, many of the usual spots are closed for swimming/driving in – so make sure you check the access reports before heading out!

I’ve rustled up some other ideas for you... A fun one is jumping on the Sealink Ferry to Mandorah with your bikes, and riding to the Cox Peninsula Country Club for a real Territory experience.

There’s live music on Sunday from 1.30 pm.

Purple Mango Brewery is also open all weekend from 10 am, with ensuite cabins still available for hire if you have a few mango beers and don’t want to drive home.

The Jumping Crocs and Fogg Dam are worthy stop-ins if you have visitors – or grab a pizza then make an arvo of it around the Bark Hut Inn pool.

If you’re looking for something a bit fancier, book in for Easter Sunday lunch at il Piatto, where the chefs have curated a special three-course menu designed for sharing – and you can choose to book food only, or a bottomless lunch.

And on Sunday night? There are still tickets available for Client Liaison’s summer DJ tour at Mayberry!

FREE EASTER EVENTS

For the market lovers, there are Night Markets at Dom’s on Saturday and Sunday from 5pm, featuring small crafted stalls of accessories and clothing.

And the Berry Springs Market will be re-opening on Sunday March 31, with art, crafts, plants, food, fresh coffee, and Easter activities.

If you want to take the kids to an Easter egg hunt that you don’t have to organise – Casuarina Square and the Darwin Waterfront both have great Easter egg hunts on Saturday, and Easter activities all weekend!

And if you’re just looking for cafes and restaurants that are open all weekend, there’s a lot.

Kopi Stop is open every day except Monday, The Foreshore Restaurant & Cafe, Besser Brew Bar, Laneway Coffee and Sweet Brew & Co are open all weekend – and the Parap and Rapid Creek Markets will be open too.

For dinner, check out Charlies on Saturday and Sunday.

Head down to the Waterfront or Stokes Hill Wharf all weekend for various options – and Hanky Panky, Bar Kokomo and Lola’s Pergola are all open this weekend for a drink.

Happy Easter!
