October Business Month’s full program set to inspire

October Business Month (OBM) is expected to be one of the largest yet, with more than 170 events right across the Territory and an incredible line up of keynote speakers.

October Business Month (OBM) is expected to be one of the largest yet, with more than 170 events right across the Territory and an incredible line up of keynote speakers who will be delivering inspirational presentations.

2024 marks the 30th anniversary of OBM. This year’s program will focus on digitisation, human connection, workforce, growth, leadership as well as strategy and planning.

OBM provides a fantastic opportunity for Territorians to upskill and learn something new to assist their own professional development or help grow their business.

Five keynote speakers will attend this year’s OBM, they include:

David Koch (Kochie) – leading business and finance expert, and former television personality will be presenting on the topic of prospects for business success.

Cathy Freeman OAM – iconic Aboriginal leader, sporting legend, Olympic gold medallist and community leader will present on the topic of achieving your lifelong dreams and her reflections on business and professional development.

Pip Courtney – respected journalist, television presenter, and host of the popular ABC series Landline will present on the topic of agricultural leadership and diversification.

Leigh Sales AM – podcaster, award-winning journalist and author, will host the popular Business in Women lunch sharing her personal insights into what she’s learnt at the frontline of journalism about human nature, life and leadership from the women she’s met along the way.

Dr Allan D. Thompson – world expert on artificial intelligence (AI), author and advisor to Fortune 500s, sharing his tips implementing artificial intelligence in your business.

OBM is also sustainably increasing its reach to the regions. The opening Darwin keynote event, NAB presents Business Success with David Koch, will be live streamed to Alice Springs, Katherine, Nhulunbuy and Tennant Creek.

Each keynote speaker will be supported by a local Territory Success Story (TSS). This year’s TSS include a diverse range of Territory business owners and entrepreneurs, each of whom bring their own local story to inspire and share with the business community.

There will be over 60 event partners delivering a wide variety of events, workshops and networking opportunities for attendees. Some of these exciting partner initiatives include:

> AusIndustry’s Business Support Showcase

> A special corporate luncheon with Lord Ian Botham, UK Trade Envoy to Australia and former English cricketer, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce

> The popular Territory Q long lunch, with Territory Statesmen – celebrating industry leaders

> An evening with Kmart’s Guy Russo, hosted by the Darwin City Retailers Association

> Nhulunbuy Jobs Expo, hosted by Charles Darwin University and the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade

> Barkly Futures Forum, hosted by Barkly Regional Council, the Northern Territory and Australian governments.
