Anthony Albanese re-elected in his Sydney seat of Grayndler

Anthony Albanese is still a long way from being Prime Minister, but he has scored one win close to home.

Anthony Albanese has been re-elected in his Sydney seat of Grayndler in the city’s inner west.

The Australian has called the seat for the Labor leader, which he has held since 1996.

Last election, the Labor leader won the seat by a two-candidate preferred margin of 66.30 per cent, and a primary vote of 50.86 per cent.

Mr Albanese has lived in Marrickville since 1989 and grew up in council housing in the nearby suburb of Camperdown in Sydney’s inner west.

In 2019, Greens candidate Jim Casey secured just 33.70 per cent of the two-candidate preferred vote. This year the Greens candidate is university employee Rachael Jacobs, and the Liberal candidate is Chinese medical practitioner Ben Zhang.
