Live Breaking News: Man in his 20s dies from Covid as cases jump

It's the question millions of Aussies have been asking - and we finally know when those in their 30s can get the coveted jab.

The head of Australia’s Covid-19 response, Lieutenant General John Frewen, has confirmed Pfizer jabs won't be brought forward for those aged in their 30s.

However, he revealed that age group wouldn't have to wait much longer, with Pfizer to be rolled out to that cohort in the weeks ahead, either in late August or September.

Lieutenant General John Frewen also confirmed the nation was on track to achieve freedom via vaccination by December, vowing that "we can get there".

His comments come after 233 new cases were confirmed in NSW today, with an alarming number of those in the community while infectious.

There are also troubling signs the outbreak is spreading beyond Greater Sydney, with NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian warning the situation "will get worse".
