Fireworks injure 18 after NT celebrations

EIGHTEEN people, including three girls, have been treated for burns from fireworks in the aftermath of the Territory Day.

A WOMAN and three girls receiving surgical treatment for fireworks-related burns after Territory Day were bystanders, a doctor says.

BURNS surgeon Dr David Read from the Royal Darwin Hospital said the most common cause for the 18 people admitted to Northern Territory hospitals overnight was being struck by firecrackers let off by other people.
