It’s one of the most popular fantasies out there – but one man’s reaction to his wife’s very generous birthday orgy has left people furious.

A man in the US has revealed the surprising reason he declined a weekend of group sex planned by his wife for his birthday.

Couple Mau and Annie appear on US reality series Couple’s Therapy where they discuss their relationship problems in frank detail.

While they first appeared on the fly-on-the-wall therapy show back in 2019, an episode in which Annie and Mau discuss their group sex dilemma this week aired in the UK – leaving viewers stunned.

Annie recalled how she had organised a sex orgy weekend for Mau’s birthday, “pulling out all the stops” with a dominatrix, threesome and costumes involved.

“I had planned a huge weekend,” Annie told the show’s psychologist Dr Orna Guralnik.

“I was trying so hard but in my focus on the weekend I had been not attentive during that week leading up to it and he kept saying to me basically you’re barking up the wrong tree and I wasn’t listening and I wasn’t getting it.”

But the weekend ended up in disaster, with Mau claiming Annie was “barking up the wrong tree”.

“He said, ‘Cancel everything, I’m not going with you, I don’t want anything,’” Anne said. “I don’t want this. And by the way, where is my passport?’ And he went to Italy.”

Mau said his decision to spend his birthday alone rather than on the group sex weekend his wife had planned had been down to her putting in too much effort.

“All I want is – I’m trying to think of how to say this so it doesn’t sound terrible – what I want is to have zero responsibility,” Mau said.

“To have all the sex I want without any work on my part, zero thinking about it and it has to be spectacular and enthusiastic and genuine.

“With the birthday for example, she was putting in all this effort. The things she was doing are the things she could imagine I would want if she was never paying attention.”

Mau claimed Annie had revealed all the details of the sex party weekend because she was “so enthusiastic” and “couldn’t keep it to herself”.

Baffled British viewers took to Twitter to vent their frustration over Mau’s reaction to Annie’s well-intended gift.

“Oh god Mau needs to get in the bin,” one person tweeted.
