Notoriously private dating coach Matthew Hussey reveals surprise engagement

Famous relationship expert Matthew Hussey has for 15 years helped people find love, and it seems he has finally found it himself.

Since his highly publicised one-year fling with Cuban-American songstress Camila Cabello, relationship expert Matthew Hussey has been notably quiet about his bachelorhood.

Having broken things off with the Havana singer in 2019, the British native has for two years remained excruciatingly silent on all matters pertaining to his love life.

That was until Wednesday when the 34-year-old announced he had got down on one knee and proposed to “the kindest, most compassionate, and beautiful person” he had ever met.

The news understandably came as a shock to long-time fans of the author, whose dating life has been shrouded in mystery despite his success coaching women into relationships.

He hosted Channel 7’s reality dating show The Single Wives in 2018, and has earned the praise of multiple A-list celebrities including Tyra Banks and Ryan Seacrest.

Hussey also boasts 2.3 million subscribers on YouTube where he gives out free dating advice, and his book Get the Guy was a New York Times bestseller.

Now, after 15 years of helping other people find their life partner, he is finally settling down with his own.

He revealed just how special his stunning fiance was to him in his announcement on Wednesday, saying there was “no one else I could imagine spending my life with”.

Hussey said he had long been hesitant to share his personal relationships publicly out of fear they wouldn’t last, but that concern had evaporated since meeting “the one”.

“I have found the person I know I’m going to spend the rest of my life with,” he told his Facebook followers.

“I’ve been helping other people find love for 15 years, never knowing when I would find it myself. I’ve been asked countless times: ‘How come you’re not married?’, never wanting this pressure to push me into making a decision that wasn’t right for me.

“I knew when I chose my life partner I wanted it to come from the deepest place of knowing what it was I wanted. Well, now I know. It’s you.”

He said there was “no one else I could imagine spending my life with”.

“You feel like coming home and going on an adventure all at the same time. I don’t believe in fate, or destiny, and yet I can’t escape the feeling that somehow we were made for each other. To be with you is to believe in soulmates.

“Not only are you the kindest, most compassionate, and beautiful person I have ever met, you excite me on every level, and your mind astounds me. I’m not just marrying the person that excites me the most, but the person I respect the most. I just f***ing adore you.”

Hussey detailed the way his partner made him feel “seen” and accepted him “so totally that I feel invincible”.

“And finally, thank you for teaching me how to love in a way that I was too scared to before. I have learned more from you than you even know,” he wrote.

“Of everything I have done in my lifetime, nothing has felt more right than falling in love with you, and I cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together. In the meantime, I’ll do my best to calm down enough to enjoy today.”
