Bride's horror at guest's 'disrespectful' act

An angry bride has lashed out after her “adults only” wedding ceremony was interrupted by the sounds of a screaming baby.

Claire Kendall Taetz, 25, was marrying Joshua Joe in what was supposed to be a child-free event — barring the couple’s nieces and nephews.

However, a guest had a different idea during the Texas wedding ceremony.

Footage shows the celebrant trying to officiant the ceremony, however, he could barely be heard over a screaming child.

“When a guest refuses to take their screaming child out of your wedding ceremony because they ‘drove 10 hours to see it’,” the unhappy bride captioned the clip.

“Mind you, this went on for 10 minutes and said guest refused people offering to take the child out for him.

“Mother of the bride whipped around and motioned to ‘take her out’.”

The bride said she initially sympathised with the baby, but when the distressed infant wasn’t taken out of the October wedding her frustration grew, and led to her “being on edge” and feeling “disrespected” during her Big Day.

The father’s only move to calm the kid was “cover the child’s mouth”.

“It’s not the child’s fault, it’s the fact the father didn’t have the courtesy to excuse himself out and that took away from the atmosphere in a monumental moment of my life,” she said.

“Everyone thinks their child will behave but children are not extensions of us because we all have our own emotions and free will.

“You can’t predict how a child will behave in a situation like this and it’s your responsibility to help them regulate their emotions.”

Many social media users said they felt validated in their choice to not have children at their wedding following the clip going viral.

“I went to a science talk and the speaker stopped talking to ask someone to keep their child quiet or remove them and it was GOLD,” one social media user said.

Another added: “Confirming why our wedding is child free.”

“Was it family? This screams family. “They think bc they’re related that rules don’t apply. Childfree wedding was the best decision, and I told my planner to turn anyone away with a kid lol,” another said.

One said: “I went to a wedding were the officiant paused and said ‘that kid sounds like they need a break, let’s give the parents a moment to remove them before we continue’ and stared in that direction.”

“A relative brought a singing Elmo toy for her baby to my sister’s wedding and started playing it during the ceremony. People are so inconsiderate,” one said.

Another said: “These comments are making me feel validated in my child free wedding choice.”

It’s not the first time a conversation has been sparked about children and weddings, with Californian bride Ashley going viral after a clip of her and her husband dancing at their wedding.

“POV [point of view]: You have no kids at your wedding,” the video read.

The pair explained in the clip: “While we love your kids, our wedding will be an adults-only (18+) event due to space and budget constraints.”

They then encouraged guests with children to “take a night off and celebrate with us”.

The internet was quick to chime in, with many giving the bride’s decision two thumbs up.

“Their wedding, their choice, if you don’t like it, don’t go. Simple,” one person commented.

Others said they’ve sent out similar invitations for their weddings, urging guests to leave the little ones with a sitter.
