Adelaide bride suffers series of unfortunate events on wedding day

An Adelaide woman who meticulously planned her nuptials said nothing could have prepared her for what went wrong on the day.

New dog wedding trend hits Sydney

Jade Jensen had been meticulously planning her nuptials for a year – but nothing could have prepared her for everything that went wrong on the day.

Just like many other brides, the Adelaide woman, 27, had been a stickler with the details in a bid to host the “perfect” wedding day for both her and her now husband Heath, and their 80 guests.

But despite using her project management skills from her mining job to oversee the whole event, Jade quickly found out that some things simply don’t go to plan.

Bride's shocker wedding day act: 'Unbelievable'

“I was opening a bottle of beautiful champagne for my friends on the morning of my wedding, and I was too busy yapping to all of my girlfriend’s because I had not seen them for so long, and wasn’t thinking properly,” the newlywed told news.com.au.

“It’s funny because just moments before everyone was commenting how calm I was considering I was hosting a bridal brunch where my friends and I could all get our hair and make-up done.

“I’d got up early because I wanted it to be perfect and went out to buy all these beautiful French pastries and really nice champagne because I wanted to spoil my friends.

“It was all going really well, until I was talking to the group, and I am undoing the cage of the champagne bottle, but not with enough strength to stop it projecting into the top of my forehead.”

Luckily Jade, a former paramedic, was surrounded by friends who all worked in the medical profession too and they quickly grabbed an ice pack to help with the swelling.

But her bad luck wasn’t over yet, with the bride-to-be making another mistake when she went to take a couple of Nurofen to help with the pain and inflammation.

“When it happened I was in complete shock,” she explained.

“It hurt a little bit, but not enough to make me cry, the adrenaline was definitely surging. But I was worried the impact would cause a bump, and I wanted to make sure I didn’t have a big egg-shape protruding from my head.”

However, in a daze from the accident, Jade didn’t realise she accidentally swallowed two Restavit tablets – a strong sleep medication.

“It was only 9.30 in the morning, and I wasn’t due to walk down the aisle until 4.30, so I was instantly panicked,” she shared.

After making herself sick, Jade said she couldn’t be sure she’d got the tablets out, and by 2pm found herself feeling extremely fatigued.

“All I could do was get on with it, but little did I know, there were more curve balls coming my way,” she explained.

“As I walked down the aisle, which was outside on a friend’s property, our kelpie Sassie was roaming around and she was so excited to see me, she ran up and stepped on my 3 metre long veil and ripped it out of the back of my head,” she said.

“Half-way through the ceremony, just before our vows, she started to take a massive dump right at the altar.

“At that point, already so much had gone wrong and I’d had such a crazy morning, all I could do was laugh.”

Jade remembers the rest of her March wedding as a “blur”, but said she and Heath were able to enjoy the rest of it without a hitch, despite the series of unfortunate events.

In fact, they have such a fun sense of humour surrounding the big day, Jade recently took to TikTok to detail everything that went horribly wrong.

“We can laugh about it now,” she captioned the clip which has been viewed over 2 million times.

Viewers thought her plight was highly amusing, noting Jade was a “trooper” to push through two sleeping pills.

“Omfg this made me laugh out loud, you poor thing,” one wrote.

“OMG no way... Do you remember any of your wedding?” asked another.

As one remarked: “There’s no way I wouldn’t have taken that as a sign to not get married.”

Most saw the funny side, with guests even commenting: “Still the most unbelievable day.”
