The world’s most popular and well-known dating app has unveiled its newest changes to combat inappropriate behaviour.

The world’s most well-known dating app is introducing a new safety warning feature to combat inappropriate behaviour occurring on the forum.

Tinder will roll out the change globally in the coming weeks in an effort to “boost good in-app behaviour” and promote “authenticity, respect and inclusivity”.

The update to user warnings will mean users found to be breaching the app’s guidelines will receive an in-app message informing them of their violation.

The message will explain what violation occurred and information on expected behaviour while using the app.

The message will remain in the user’s Tinder inbox and cannot be deleted.

The alert will also warn users engaging in unwanted behaviour that their account could be banned if their inappropriate behaviour is repeated and prompts users to read the app’s community guidelines.

Tinder said it used a “system of real-time machine-learning features” to detect inappropriate behaviour and breaches of community guidelines.

Tinder vice-president of trust and safety operations Nicole Blumenfeld said the new feature was all about creating a “safe” and “respectful” environment for all users.

“Globally, online dating is now the most common way for singles to meet new people, with 53 per cent of people under 30 using dating apps,” Ms Blumenfeld said.

“As the leading dating app, we want to provide our users with the best experience and the best opportunity to discover new authentic connections in a safe, fun and respectful environment. This is particularly important for younger users who are new to online dating.

“Our community guidelines form the basis of a respectful ecosystem. These warnings are

designed to provide transparency and to alert users when they are not engaging in acceptable and respectful behaviour.

“By providing greater transparency to users about their behaviour, not only are we enabling them to immediately ‘course correct’ but also foster a better experience for the wider Tinder community.”
