TikTok helps woman find her mystery lover — and his wife
A wife was surprised to see a video of her husband cavorting on a beach with another woman when her plea to find him went viral.
A US woman who turned to internet sleuths to find a man she’d shared a romantic encounter with on a beach was shocked when social media users located his wife.
Mica Renee took to TikTok asking for help reconnecting with a guy she’d met during a chance encounter in Miami.
But after sharing a video of herself flirting with the mystery man using the popular “helpmefindhim” hashtag, the 28-year-old made a startling discovery.
Shortly after the video began to circulate, his wife of six years contacted her through the social media platform’s direct messages.
“I was shocked to find out he had a wife,” she told TheNY Post.
“I just thought if he was found we’d reconnect and maybe exchange numbers.”
However Ms Renee’s video went hugely viral after she asked for help.
“TikTok help me find this man I met in Miami,” she’d captioned the video, which shows the man approaching her on the beach last August.
In the video, the model and travel blogger, is seen posing knee-deep in the water for pictures when a shirtless man walks up and engages her in seemingly flirty conversation.
“He walked right into the ocean to introduce himself to me,” Ms Renee wrote in the clip’s comments.
However, after exchanging numbers, Ms Renee lost his contact information.
“I was lit when he gave me his number. I’m counting on [y’all to find him]. Hopefully he ain’t married!”
But just 24 hours later, she was contacted by the man’s wife, sharing a screenshot of her chat with the man’s spouse, Sharee.
Ms Renee immediately apologised to the woman – however, the unfazed wife was surprisingly happy to have learn of her husband’s extramarital escapades.
“It’s not your fault,” she said in response.
“He didn’t care so please believe I’m not about to. But thank you for posting this. Everything done in the dark will always come to the light.”
The mother-of-four then asked Ms Renee to refrain from deleting the damning evidence of her groom’s not-so-discrete antics.
“Can you not delete the video,” she said. “I don’t want him lying about this too.”
Ms Renee agreed, leaving the embarrassing proof of the man’s behaviour on TikTok where it has been viewed over 4.7 million times.
“I can only imagine what she is going through,” Ms Renee told The NY Post. “And I appreciate that we were able to communicate about the situation very respectfully.”
She added: “And I never expected my video would go viral.”
