‘Get a grip’: Abbie Chatfield fires up at ‘open relationship’ critics
Abbie Chatfield has given critics of her “open relationship” with Konrad Bien-Stephens a lashing, labelling those outraged “psycho”.
Abbie Chatfield has lashed out at critics who slammed her “open relationship” with boyfriend, Konrad Bien-Stephens, telling them to “get a grip” in a lengthy rant.
The influencer recently revealed on her popular podcast It’s A Lot that the pair were non-exclusive after rumours emerged claiming they were “breaking up”.
But after sharing their relationship “kink”, Abbie was bombarded with other people’s opinions on their lifestyle choice – and she took to Instagram to shut it down.
“Some of you f**kers are so embarassingly triggered because you’re so insecure, you’re like ‘but if you love someone’, not me, not him,” she said.
“It’s fine, if that’s how you feel, be monogamous, love that for you
“But why do you care if I f**k someone else or he f**ks someone else.”
The 26-year-old – who found fame on the 2019 season of the Bachelor – went on to state many people were wrongly assuming she had “forced” Konrad into it, saying he’s the only one in the relationship who has had sex with someone else so far.
“Like babes, I’m not forcing him to do anything, in fact he’s the one that f**ked someone else and I’m yet to because I am too busy,” Abbie revealed.
“But like, it’s fine. We also didn’t only become open today... we’ve been open the whole time. We just didn’t want to tell you because you’re all psycho and this is how you react.”
In a separate Instagram Stories post, Abbie told everyone who had strong opinions about their romance to “get a grip”.
“Just because you want everyone to want monogamy as much as you do, doesn’t mean that someone not wanting monogamy is a bad thing,” she said.
“Why does it affect you which genitals touch each other? Get a grip.”
Konrad, 31, and Abbie explained there were “rules” and “boundaries” within the open relationship – including not sleeping with people they know or ex partners.
“I don’t care about someone’s genitals going near someone else’s genitals, I care about the lying, I care about getting an STI,” Abbie said in her podcast. “I don’t care. In fact, hate to break it to you, it’s my kink.”
Konrad said when he did sleep with someone else, he called Abbie the next day. “She was like, ‘Yeah hot, tell me all about it’.”
The couple, who live in different cities with Konrad based in Melbourne while Abbie resides in Sydney, suggested it was a recent development, after they began dating in November.
Their relationship got off to a rocky start when Abbie went public with her relationship with Konrad while he was still appearing on The Bachelorette, which Brooke claimed “tainted” her season.
However the pair have gone from strength to strength in the months since, with Konrad joining Abbie for her family Christmas in Queensland and spoiling her on Valentine’s Day.
