Bachelorette 2016 contestant Rhys Chilton is a married man

FOR anyone tuning into the Bachelorette on a Wednesday and Thursday night, there’s one thing you’re sure to know — contestant Rhys Chilton is a male model.

But perhaps what you didn’t know is that the 29-year-old is also a married man, according to OK! magazine.

The estranged wife of Mr Chilton, known only as Kelsi, spoke about how the pair got married in 2014, and why their relationship ended so abruptly.

“He only cares about himself … and should not be dating that beautiful girl Georgia [Love],’ the 24-year-old, who lives the US, told the magazine.

Turns out Bachelorette contestant Rhys Chilton is already married.

Mr Chilton, who is competing against 12 other bachelors for Georgia Love’s heart on Channel 10’s The Bachelorette, admitted that his marriage hadn’t worked out with Kelsi, and decided to separate some time ago.

“Kelsi and I were in love and got married but unfortunately for us it didn’t work out,” Mr Chilton said in a statement provided to news.com.au.

“We have been separated for over two years and the details are currently being finalised. I’ve not dated since Kelsi and The Bachelorette Australia was an opportunity, albeit unorthodox, to see if I was ready to meet somebody.

“I have explained my reason to Georgia for being here and I feel she understands. Kelsi is a great girl and I’ve always wanted to see her happy in life.”

Rhys is a very loud and proud model on The Bachelorette.

According to the magazine, Kelsi had “no clue” that Mr Chilton would be appearing on the reality television show, and that their relationship became “turbulent” with “ongoing disputes” after she returned home to the US from Brisbane.

The Bachelorette airs at 7.30pm Wednesday and Thursday nights on Channel 10.
