ADIDAS had the perfect response to haters who chose to write homophobic comments on their Valentine’s Day Instagram post.

To celebrate the annual day of love this year, the activewear brand shared an image of the lower half of a same-sex couple, wearing identical Adidas trainers. The women are leaning towards one another in what appears to be an embrace.

The caption reads: “The love you take is equal to the love you make.”

The image has amassed more than 72,000 comments since it was posted. While the majority of reaction to the ad campaign was positive, sadly there were some negative reactions in the mix.

“Shame on you Adidas!” one follower wrote. “I’m going to Nike now.”

But Adidas simply replied with two emojis, a kiss and a wave, farewelling the haters.

Another user commented on the post that Valentine’s Day was for a “boy and a girl, when they are a couple. Not for lesbians.”

Adidas responded: “No, this day is for LOVE. Happy Valentine’s Day.”

Bravo to the social media team at Adidas for their speedy, sassy responses.

Last week, the sportswear giant announced it would introduce a clause to its athletes’ contracts around the world that states their sponsorships will not be affected if they announce they are gay, bi, or transgender.

“Adidas acknowledges and adheres to the principles of diversity, as this is a central part of the Adidas group philosophy,” the clause reads.

“Therefore Adidas warrants that this agreement will neither be terminated nor modified in case the athlete comes out to the public as a member of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community.”
