Woolies worker shares little-known feature about best time to shop
With lockdown lifted for most in NSW, retailers are packed – but there’s a way to know how busy your local Woolies is without leaving the house.
Now that restrictions have eased in NSW, local retailers are going to be busier than ever.
There’s already been chaotic scenes at Kmart and there’s no doubt that supermarket chains such as Woolies will also experience huge numbers of shoppers.
But fear not, because a Woolies staffer has revealed a little-known feature that tells you if your local store is busy, before you even leave the house.
In a TikTok video that has been viewed more than 37,000 times, popular Woolies employee Liam Kirley, known for sharing tips and hacks, explained how all you need to do is search the supermarket’s Q Tracker online.
After you enter your postcode or suburb, it will let you know your store’s estimated queue time.
“Here is a shopping hack to know how busy your local Woolies is at home,” Liam said in the video.
“So search up Woolworths Q Tracker, enter your postcode and it’ll tell you how busy your store is and if there’s any [queue] wait.
“The information is provided by the store, whether that’s how many people are in the store, how long it takes them to shop and queue wait times.”
The data gets updated every five minutes so shoppers will have the latest details whether they are about to leave their home or on their way to shop.
Liam’s post has since been inundated with Woolies shoppers thanking him for the hack.
“Wow that’s cool; great feature,” one person commented.
“Oh awesome, thanks for this tip!” another wrote.
The Sydney worker, who shot to fame last year for his viral food hacks and store announcements, has since hung up his apron to step into a new role as content co-ordinator for Woolworths’ very own TikTok account.
Supermarket app makes shopping more streamlined
He recently clocked more than 47,000 views on a video revealing how to shop quicker at the supermarket by using its app to locate products.
Liam said to start, make sure you’ve got the Woolworths app on your phone and use the list function to select what branch you would be going to, as well as the “shop in-store” option.
Then start building your grocery list by either selecting the “item that you want to add to your list or you can scan the barcode on an item you already have”.
Once you arrive at Woolworths to do your shop, Liam said: “Change the mode to in store mode and then sort by aisle location.
The list will categorise all the times into aisles so you can easily navigate and find your products.”
