A Woolies shopper was blown away by a staffer’s gesture after dropping a carton of eggs.

The North Queensland woman took to Facebook to explain how her “clumsy” act lead to scoring 1,000 free Woolworths Everyday Rewards points.

She was shopping at her local store last week when she accidentally dropped the carton of eggs while in the checkout line.

“One egg broke and went on the floor. I asked the check out lady for some paper towels to clean it up,” she said in the post.

“The staff member insisted on doing it for me. They asked if I wanted a new carton of eggs.

“I told them no it’s OK I’ll take the carton I dropped.”

However, what happened next left the shopper in shock.

“Then the manager on duty came over and said that she was giving me 1,000 rewards on my Everyday Rewards for being such a nice person and attempting to clean up,” the woman explained.

“So something to look out for. It just goes to show it doesn’t take much to be a decent person.”

The woman shared her experience on the popular Markdown Addicts Australia page where it received 6,000 ‘likes’ and hundreds of comments commending both the shopper’s gesture and the Woolies manager.

“There’s so many lovely Woolworths workers out there that actually love their jobs and show it to the customers. Good on you for going the extra too as a customer,” one person wrote.

“I never knew this was even possible. Good on you for being a kind soul. And good on Woolys for recognising it,” said another, while a third joked: “Note to self: Next time drop eggs at check out counter and offer to clean up.”

Others used the comments section to share similar experiences of how they nabbed free Rewards points.

“Had someone do this to me because the man behind me in the checkout line was been super rude,” one shopper wrote.

“I got 1000 points at Woolworths once when I went to return a dairy product which we found had already been opened. I think they understand when you’ve been inconvenienced and are being reasonable,” said another.
