New Zealand student moved by note left on her car
A woman thought she had copped a fine when she found a note on her car, but it was nothing of the sort.
When university student Brooke Lacey discovered a note on the windscreen of her car, she immediately thought she copped a fine or a few angry words over the way she was positioned.
The 22-year-old political science student from Wellington, New Zealand, had just returned from a coffee run when she spotted the handwritten note on a napkin.
She quickly snatched it off her windscreen and drove off.
But a couple of hours later when she paused to read the message she was moved by what it said.
“Your sign saved my life today,” the note began.
“I left my house with a plan and asked for a sign, any sign, I was doing the right thing when I saw your car in the parking lot. Thank you.”
The stranger was referring to a bumper sticker on Brooke’s car that read: “Please don’t take your life today. The world is so much better with you in it, more than you realise, stay.”
Brooke shared a photo of the note to Twitter and explained she had made the stickers a while ago.
“[I] put one on my car and forgot about them, until now. I am so glad whoever you are chose to stay today. You never know who needs this reminder,” Brooke said.
Her post has since been ‘liked’ more than 1800 times, with the young student causing an outpour of responses.
“How beautiful. The world needs more people like you,” one Twitter user wrote.
“I’m not crying, you’re crying,” said another, while a third added: “So awesome. This has absolutely made my night. But more importantly, the person who left the note is alive tonight thanks to Brooke.”
Another online user described it as “goosebumps stuff”.
