Woman’s marriage to ‘cheating’ rag doll on brink of collapse
A 37-year-old who married a rag doll says their relationship is “hanging by a thread” after he was unfaithful while she was in hospital.
A Brazilian woman who amassed a huge social media while documenting her unusual relationship with a rag doll has made a wild claim about the soft toy.
Meirivone Rocha Moraes’ hit headlines when she “married” Marcelo last year and later went on to have a baby with him named Marcelinho.
However, the 37-year-old has recently stated her partner has “cheated” on her, sensationally claiming the toy was unfaithful while she was in hospital after giving birth.
Understandably, many have been perplexed by Meirivone and Marcelo’s relationship, prompting some to ask about the state of her mental health.
Despite giving regular interviews about her “fairy-tale romance”, Meirivone has never commented on the speculation surrounding her wellbeing.
Sexual attraction to dolls isn’t a new phenomenon. The medical term for the condition is called Agalmatophilia which describes someone who feels affection for a statue, doll, mannequin, or other similar figurative object.
Doll fetishism is also an adult niche that has been rising in popularity in recent years, with the sex toy industry expected to see “huge growth” in the next six years according to recent data.
Meirivone’s doll is unlike other sex dolls. Instead of the lifelike silicone versions, Marcelo was made by Meirivone’s mother using white fabric and has brown string for hair, with out-of-proportion facial features.
It appears this has done nothing to deter her affection for him, with a “devastated” Meirivone revealing on TikTok their relationship was “hanging by a thread” after a woman claimed her husband is cheating on her.
“I found out through a friend who told me that she saw Marcelo entering a motel with another woman while I was hospitalised for three nights and three days with Marcelinho, our son, who had a virus,” the video, translated by theDaily Star, states.
“At first, I thought she was lying, but then I started looking through his phone and I saw the conversations, which made me sure he was cheating.”
Meirivone said her rag doll husband “denied everything” but said he still loves her and begged for forgiveness.
“The argument was ugly and scared [our son] who was crying, so I shouted to him: ‘Do you see what you’ve done?’ I asked him who the woman was and he didn’t respond,” she said.
“I wanted to put him out of the house but our baby is growing up and at this stage, he would miss his father a lot – also, the love I feel for him made me forgive, not completely, but I don’t think I could live without my husband.”
Many of Meirivone’s 159,000 followers were quick to express their shock at the post, but others expressed concern over her wellbeing.
Meirivone previously revealed her mum had made the doll after she complained about being single and having nobody to dance with.
She described in detail how the pair had a “whirlwind romance” for several months before she fell pregnant – then held a huge wedding with 250 guests to ensure she “didn’t have a baby out of wedlock”.
She “gave birth” in just 35 minutes at home, with a doctor and nurse on site, while livestreaming the event to an audience of 200 people in June.
“He is a man I always wanted in my life. Married life with him is wonderful,” she said at the time.
“He doesn’t fight with me, he doesn’t argue and he just understands me. Marcelo is a great and faithful husband. He is such a man and all women envy him.”
Her story has been met with scepticism online, with entire Reddit threads dedicated to the pair’s unusual relationship suggesting Meirivone has fabricated her affection for the doll to gain TikTok followers.
