One savvy Kmart shopper has revealed how she gets more than just an oven mitt or dish cover out of her tea towels.
The woman took to a popular Kmart hacks Facebook page to share a photo of her creation.
She had used the tea towels, which featured prints such as cats, koalas and other wildlife, to make hats.
The image garnered more than 3600 reactions and just under 300 comments.
She added that it took two tea towels, which retail for $1.75, to make a hat fit for an adult, meaning the hat costs just $3.50 to make.
Social media users were stunned by the creations, with some suggesting the woman should sell her designs.
One said: “As soon as this picture popped up I recognised the pattern from my tea towel!
“Great way to find cheap fabric! They really do have some nice prints.”
Another added: “I think their tea towels are probably a lot better suited to hats. Wonderful work!”
One social media user said: “Do you make and sell hats?! They are so cute, I’d love to purchase if you do!”
Another said: “You are very talented. I struggle to thread a needle so this is super impressive to me.”
Another person said: “I keep telling myself I don’t need more fabric, I have way too much but tea towels is now an exception.”
Others revealed they had created their own alternative use for the tea towels, making everything from purses, face masks, bag straps and bowl cosies.
