A woman has been arrested as part of a probe into a sex tape allegedly filmed inside a London prison.

The suspect is being held on suspicion of misconduct in public office after police arrested her on Friday, local time, The Sun reports.

It came after shocking footage allegedly emerged from HMP Wandsworth in south London.

The video shows a female prison guard performing a lewd act and having sex with an inmate as her discarded radio crackles with messages in the background.

A police spokesman said: “A police investigation was launched on June 28 after officers were made aware of a video allegedly filmed inside HMP Wandsworth.

“A woman was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on 28 June. She has been taken into police custody.

“Enquiries continue. We remain in close contact with the Ministry of Justice.”

Shocking footage allegedly emerged from the prison on Friday.

The X-rated footage of the acts – filmed recently by another prisoner – was circulated among inmates using illegally-held phones.

During the video, the prisoner behind the camera was heard saying: “This is how we live at Wandsworth.”

Police and prison bosses subsequently launched a probe into the video as it went viral on Friday.

The footage – also circulated on WhatsApp – shows the guard, on her knees, and performing a sex act on an inmate, with his grey shorts pulled down.

The video was recorded by a second prisoner in the cell.

The guard then takes her black jail-issue trousers down and starts having sex with the inmate against the cell-door.

It is the latest troubling incident at scandal-hit HMP Wandsworth, remand prisoner Daniel Khalife allegedly escaped from last year.

He is said to have supposedly strapped himself to the underside of a food truck, sparking a huge manhunt before he was eventually re-arrested in London.

Another female prison guard was also investigated after separate footage emerged of a cell romp at the Victorian prison in January 2022.

The sex tape comes after a report last month by HM Inspector of Prisons said Wandsworth – which holds more than 1500 inmates – needs “urgent improvement” amid a surge in violence.

The prison’s governor, Katie Price, resigned during the inspection which highlighted “systemic and cultural failures that stemmed from poor leadership”.
