A popular Australian content creator known online as Pretty Pastel Please has died suddenly with her death being announced on social media.

The young woman, named Alexandra, was only 30 when she died.

A tribute on her Instagram page said: “It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that Alex, known to many as Pretty Pastel Please, has passed away.

“Her passing was sudden, unexpected and devastating to all who knew her.

“This is a shock to us all, and her family and friends have requested privacy as they navigate their grief. We would ask that you respect their wishes – they appreciate all of your support but need time to heal in private.”

But tributes left on her social media account indicated that Alexandra was being trolled online as rumours circulated about her mental health and marriage breakdown.

About 11 months ago, Alexandra shared a video on her YouTube account to address rumours confirming that she was going through a divorce.

She had planned to move to Tasmania with her husband, but he decided to stay in Sydney after she relocated before him.

“There was a real low point in my life when I was trying to keep things under wrap because I was not entirely convinced we would get a divorce,” she said.

“I pretended everything was okay as rumours spread online.”

In April last year, she posted, “What a difference 5 months makes, when you remove yourself from a situation that was slowly killing you.”

In September 2020, Alexandra shared that she felt “truly happy for the first time in a long time” after she had worked up the courage to speak to a psychiatrist two years earlier about her mental health issues.

She told fans that she had been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder, ADHD, PTSD and anxiety disorder and had battled taking medication she found helpful in some ways and ruined her life in others.

“Rest in peace Alex. You were a joy to watch and follow these past years,” one person said.

“There’s a part of me that still doesn’t believe this is real. Probably since I have watched Alex for such a long time and I still watch her videos whenever I’m feeling down so it’s not something I want to believe,” a person commented.

“She always has such a bright and spirited energy, it would soothe me and I would often listen to her videos before sleeping.

“She made me want to wear colour (I would always wear black before), helped develop my style and every time I miss Japan, I would watch her videos.

“It’s strange to think just how much she impacted my life even though we hadn’t directly met. I will still be watching her videos and thinking of her. RIP Alex.”

“Her openness and vulnerability around her struggles, her love of animals, and her generous heart is how I will remember her. She was really special and I hope the best for her friends and family as they mourn this enormous loss,” another fan said.

“To Alex’s family, she was a light in so many people’s lives, including mine,” another said.
