She’s amassed a following of 1.5 million on the platform alone – but TikTok sensation Millie Ford has made a surprising admission about her future.

With a following of 1.5 million on TikTok alone, Millie Ford is one of the last people you’d expect to have anxiety about the longevity – and durability – of social media success.

The beloved content creator and comedian shot to fame on the platform in 2021, thanks to her uncanny portrayals of everyone from ‘The Mum Who Insists She Doesn’t Want Anything For Mother’s Day’ to ‘Girls Fighting Over Who’s Paying For The Coffees’.

That same year, she was named the inaugural TikTok Creator of the Year, and nominated for the Favourite Digital Content Creator and later, Best Digital Short Video (2022), awards at the AACTAs.

But, in an interview with Stellar, out today, the 28-year-old shared she isn’t comfortable with the idea that TikTok stardom and influencing can realistically be her only source of income.

“While I’m so grateful for the platform that I’ve been given, it’s just so volatile,” Ford said.

“We can’t all just be making content until we’re 50. It’s so fine if you are, but not all of us are going to be. We don’t need to be put in a box making videos.

“I’m like, what else can I do? We don’t know the future of social media.”

It’s for this reason Ford has parlayed her success online into podcasting, acting, singing, songwriting and musical performance opportunities – so that now “if someone asks me what I do, I don’t know where to start”.

“I like to call myself a creative person in general because beyond just the acting and the singing or whatever, I’m full of ideas,” she said.

“My mind is constantly daydreaming.”

The Sydney-based creative also opened up about the misconceptions regarding her generation’s attitude toward money.

“Younger generations are often too harshly criticised for their spending habits,” she said.

“I feel like my generation in particular are so on the pulse of it because the landscape has changed.

“We’re the ones telling our parents that our future looks different to (theirs).

“Because of that, we’re so financially aware. I think we’re really underestimated.”
