TikTok star Anna Paul’s shock find on supermarket receipt

All the Gold Coast influencer had wanted was to buy some fresh fruit and veg while visiting the US – only to be left stunned by what she found.

One of the highlights of any overseas trip has got to be the cuisine.

But one Aussie traveller was less than impressed by the US supermarkets she visited, lamenting the lack of fresh fruit and veg – before being stunned by how much they cost in another store.

Anna Paul is a Gold Coast TikTok star who has over 922,000 followers on the video sharing app.

The influencer, who is also one of Australia’s top earners on OnlyFans, has travelled to the US with boyfriend Glen Thomson, with the couple documenting their holiday on TikTok.

In one video the couple filmed themselves shopping at Walmart, both “shocked” at the lack of fresh produce in the mega-sized supermarket.

“In this whole store this is the only fruits and vegetables,” Anna revealed, gesturing to a small shelf space with fresh produce in plastic bags.

“I know there are stores where you can buy fruits and veg, but f***ing hell this store is huge and this is all they have.

“That was so crazy the whole shop is fast food … in Australia every single grocery store you go into the first couple of sections is just fruit and veggies and here not at all.”

In another video Anna said she and Glen decided to go to another US supermarket called Whole Foods to stock up on fresh produce.

“This is looking so much better … we’re getting all of the veggies,” she said.

But Anna was stunned after buying just “two bags of food and a bag of drinks”at how much their shop had cost.

“It was $US160 which converts to $230 Australian dollars … you can buy healthy food in America it’s just so f***ing expensive.

“If I did a proper grocery shop that would be like a thousand Australian dollars, because that’s only two bags of food.”

Anna concluded that it was “way cheaper to be unhealthy here” while it was “super, super hard to be really healthy”.

Both videos attracted thousands of comments from Aussies and Americans alike, with many viewers from Australia expressing shock at Anna’s find.

“[I buy] $500 of groceries just for me weekly. It is insanely expensive to eat healthy in America,” one person wrote.

“Just quietly I think Australia has the balance right,” one Aussie said.

“In Australia almost the whole shop is just fruit and vegetables,” another said.

But some Americans defended their supermarket fresh produce, claiming Whole Foods was a “luxury grocery store” and certain Walmarts didn’t stock fruit and vegetables.

“That’s because Walmart is more of a stock up on packaged food kind of store. Americans do eat vegetables lol,” one said.

“Because it’s not a Walmart superstore … you won’t see produce or meat. If you want fruit you need to go to superstore,” another claimed.

“Most Walmarts have way more fruit and vegetables, I don’t know why this one is so empty,” one person commented.
