A video has captured the moment a teenager armed with a knife allegedly demanded cash at a McDonald’s while terrified children and parents watched on.

“There’s a guy here with a knife, I’m not joking. Just keep everyone back,” the mum behind the camera could be heard saying as the teen followed a young worker towards the cash register.

“Police are on their way mate. There’s kids here. Don’t do this.”

He could then be seen calmly walking out of the store with what appeared to be cash in his hand, putting the knife in a bin near the door on his way out.

The mum behind the camera, Danique Buncle, was at the Harrisdale McDonald’s with her three-year-old daughter and six-year-old son, who was there with his football team.

“The staff were really distressed, a lot of them were crying,” she told 7News.

McDonald’s confirmed the incident happened about 5.40pm on Wednesday.

“In accordance with our emergency response procedures, our employees successfully de-escalated the situation and immediately contacted police,” a spokeswoman said.

“No one was injured in the incident and we will continue to support all employees working at the time.”

Police have charged a 17-year-old boy with aggravated armed robbery.

They allege he entered the fast food outlet armed with a knife and threatened staff while demanding cash. He then left after being given a sum of cash.

He will face Perth Children’s Court on August 25.
