‘Promising’ update on porn star Emily Willis in two-month coma

The family of a popular 25-year-old adult entertainer who has been in a “vegetative coma” for the last two months has updated fans.

The family of an adult film star who has been in a “vegetative coma” for the last two months has shared a “promising” update.

Emily Willis, known on-screen as Litzy Lara Banulos, was hospitalised after being found “unresponsive” while in a celebrity rehabilitation unit in Malibu in February.

Initial reports claimed Willis, who had been accessing help for addiction, had suffered a “drug overdose”, however this later shut down by the 25-year-old’s younger brother Michael who said she had a cardiac arrest.

The retired porn star’s family has now revealed Willis is awake, but she remains in a “vegetative state”, according to a new report by TMZ.

Her condition means Willis is still unable to move, but it is understood she can now “track things with her eyes, smile, and even become emotional during conversations”.

The significant improvement to her overall health has lifted hopes, though Michael told the publication “doctors aren’t anticipating further improvement”.

Medical experts haven’t been able to identify what caused the young woman to go into cardiac arrest, with an early toxicology report determining there were no drugs in her system.

Willis’s rising medical costs are being assisted by a GoFundMe page set up by Michael, which has also been giving fans of the popular adult entertainer updated.

“Emily was receiving the treatment and help she needed at the time of the incident to overcome her struggles,” the most recent post reads.

“She retired from the adult industry nearly two years ago and had aspirations of success in other fields of entertainment.

“Those who worked with her in her new career path knew she had the potential to achieve her dreams.”

Michael also stated reports Willis had suffered an “overdose were not accurate”, but stressed she was “fighting for her life”.

So far, the fundraising efforts have raised over $US70,00 (about $A108,000), which will go towards her long-term care.

“Once again, thank you so much for all the kind words and donations. It warms the hearts of her loved ones to know how beloved she is by those who know her,” he said.

“Any kind of support is appreciated, and nothing is expected or taken for granted. Your support gives us strength to endure and remain steadfast for Emily.

“We want to express our gratitude to those who have donated, and please know that your generosity will greatly aid in Emily’s ongoing recovery process.”

Willis began working in the adult film industry since 2017 and is one of the world’s most popular actresses, working mostly with brands like Reality Kings and Evil Angel.

She won the title of female performer at the Adult Video News Awards in 2011, considered the “Oscars of porn” according to the New York Post.

In that same year, she filed a $5 million defamation lawsuit against two industry rivals, Gianna Dior and Adria Rae. Emily later received an apology and the suit was dropped in 2022.

She’s also acted in mainstream movies. Last year she appeared in the sci-fi film Divinity, which also starred Bella Throne. The movie was premiered at Sundance Film Festival.

The actor has more than 2.2 million follows on Instagram and has interacted with social media stars including Mike Majlak and David Dobrik.

Her fans have been expressing their concern online since news of her health struggle first broke.

“Wish you a healing and speedy recovery Emily,” one wrote.

“Hi darling, I hope your going to be OK,” another added.

“Emily, get well soon Princess. I know it’s hard, but feel the love of your people. God bless,” someone else chipped in.
