Mum lashed over tribute for baby who died in 48 degree heatwave
Ten days after the death of a four-month old baby in a hot boat, police have made a major announcement.
Detectives are probing the parents of an American baby girl who died after being exposed to extreme temperatures during a 48C heatwave.
Four-month-old Tanna Rae Wroblewski had been boating with her family on Lake Havasu in the US state of Arizona when she suddenly lost consciousness due to suspected heat-related complications on July 5.
Local police are now probing baby’s parents Alyssa and Matthew Wroblewski about the circumstances surrounding her death, the New York Post reports.
“We are investigating the entire situation [including] what caused the death and what led to it,” public information officer Anita Mortensen told the publication.
“There have been no arrests at this time.”
The father is a Riverside police detective, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
Although the infant’s official cause of death has not been released by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office, officials believe it’s linked to a heatwave that has scorched the state with temperatures of more than 48C.
Tanna’s mother has since taken to social media to detail her grief but her post was slammed by many who accused her of exposing her child to danger, the New York Post added.
Ms Wroblewski — who has not been charged in relation to her daughter’s death — posted a photo of the baby on Facebook with a caption saying it would have been the four-month anniversary of her birth — to which some observers called her “irresponsible” and a “bad mother”.
Her Facebook page, which showed photos of the family boating with the infant in prior months, was shut down as of Wednesday, according to havasunews.com.
The Wroblewskis then set up a GoFundMe to “support” the family and cover the baby’s funeral costs.
“Tanna Rae, our real life angel became an angel in heaven. We are beyond devastated, heartbroken, there are just no words,” she wrote.
“Our precious baby girl gave us her last smiles and we gave her our last kisses. We will never understand why you had to leave so soon, you were just too perfect,” she wrote.

The fundraiser, which appears to have since been shut down, had raised more than $US48,000 (around $70,000) within a few days of launching.
The baby’s family performed CPR on her until paramedics arrived and airlifted her to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where she died, authorities said.
The tragedy struck as Lake Havasu City soared to a sweltering high of 48C. The heatwave in Arizona has been so intense it reportedly melted window blinds and was poised to shatter summer records this week.
