Surprising Careers That Don't Require A Degree

A McDonald’s boss has been mocked for a ridiculously petty ‘McRule’ demanding staff only drink from certain cups.

An image of the warning posted in a staffroom was shared on Reddit.

The rule claimed employees take a 12 oz (355ml) cup while drinking at work and to then throw it away for health reasons, The Sun reports.

“It should not look like a teenager’s room around here with 32 half empty cups – not only is it unsightly, they get spilled, and attract unwanted pests,” the blunt warning read.

The boss, known as Chris, said this was also a “money issue”.

“A 12 oz paper cup costs 3 cents, and 16 oz clear cup costs 8 cents,” the rule read.

“Now let’s think about the extra 4 oz of soda or tea that is in that cup. It adds up to A LOT of MONEY!

“Please treat this privilege as if you were spending your own money. Some McDonalds only allow tap water, no soda or tea, so please be thankful for this.”

The cheapskate boss then threatened in caps and blue underline to “require a manager” to get drinks for employees or revert to tap water if that didn’t stop the behaviour.

The rule read: “I HATE TO BE THIS WAY BUT I FEEL SOME OF YOU HAVE SEVERLY ABUSED THIS BENEFIT.”

But Reddit users appeared to side with the manager, shooting down any claims he was acting unfairly.

“If there’s anything wrong with this, it’s the attitude of the employees towards the rules and expectations that their job requires of them,” one user wrote.

“If they can’t follow such simple instructions then it says a lot about their character.”

“His first two points have more weight than his last point. Government will shut you down if they feel like it. Better not give them ammo like cups sitting out or insects/rodents congregating because there’s a nice treat waiting for them,” said another.

“A $0.05 difference in cost is an extra $18.25 per person over a year. Yes it adds up, but you’re still making a killing on every drink that’s actually sold, plus you should know these people don’t give a sh*t if they cost you money, otherwise they wouldn’t be taking the free drink in the first place.”

A third added: “And honestly using the plastic cup allows them to be refilled throughout the day and saves money in the long term. (Saying the employee gets 3 drinks a shift).”
