Man, 50, went to hospital with ‘eggplant deformity’ on penis

When a man arrived at hospital after hearing a “crack” during sex, doctors were shocked by what they discovered.

Doctors found a man had fractured his penis after the 50-year-old said he felt a “crack” during “vigorous” sex.

The unidentified man fronted up to a hospital in Indonesia after suffering four hours of pain and an inability to urinate.

Medics then discovered the man’s penis was severely swollen with a haematoma formed and the genitalia deviated to the right, the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports said.

Physicians described the injury as a “characteristic eggplant deformity”, with a scan revealing a rupture in his penis.

Doctors performed surgery on the man within two hours, with the skin being “degloved”, before doctors found the anterior urethra and corpus cavernosum were both completely ruptured – a rare injury with only two other known cases.

The man was discharged from hospital five days later.

Four months after the injury, he was recovering well.

“The patient was delighted with the outcome,” the medical journal read.

“The patient can now … interact sexually with his wife without experiencing any discomfort.”

However, the doctors noted the recovered penis now deviated slightly to the left.

The journal revealed that any blunt trauma to an erect penis is a medical emergency, with the majority of fractures occurring during sexual activity.
